Bank Account Opening
We guide you through choosing the right account type, preparing the documentation, and completing the process at a bank branch or digitally.
Monlarento accompanies young people who leave the child protection system at 18. We guide you through opening a bank account, understanding your first employment contract, filing a simplified tax return, and accessing emancipation grants.
When a young person reaches 18 while in the child protection system, they face a transition that most people never have to navigate alone. Suddenly, the administrative, financial, and housing structures that shaped daily life are removed all at once.
Monlarento exists precisely for this moment. We are a specialised mentorship programme that walks alongside care leavers during the first years of independent life, focusing on the concrete financial skills and administrative knowledge that make independence sustainable.
We guide you through choosing the right account type, preparing the documentation, and completing the process at a bank branch or digitally.
Understanding what you are signing is essential. We explain contract types, your rights as a worker, social security registration, and what to expect on your payslip.
Filing your first income tax return (declaración de la renta) can feel overwhelming. We simplify the process, identify applicable deductions, and help you submit accurately.
Spain has specific financial aid schemes for young care leavers. We help you identify which grants apply to your situation and support you through the application process.
Learning to manage income and expenses from the very first paycheck builds confidence and stability. We work through budgeting tools that fit your specific situation.
From tenant rights to consumer protection and data privacy, we cover the legal frameworks that every young adult should understand to protect their interests.
The transition out of the child protection system is one of the most abrupt and under-supported passages in any young person's life. Monlarento focuses exclusively on this group, because generic financial advice rarely addresses the specific gaps that care leavers face.
Whether you were in foster care, residential care, or another form of protection, this programme is for you if you are between 18 and 25 and navigating the early stages of independent life.
The programme is open to young people in this critical transition window.
Foster care, residential care, or kinship arrangements all qualify.
In-person sessions available in Madrid; distance learning nationwide.
No fees. No conditions. Funded by the European Union.
Monlarento is structured around four core areas. Each area combines individual mentoring sessions with practical workshops and, where needed, direct support during real administrative processes.
We begin with a structured conversation to understand your current situation, existing knowledge, and specific goals. This allows us to tailor the programme to what you actually need, not a generic curriculum.
Regular one-to-one sessions with your assigned mentor. These sessions cover your specific financial questions, upcoming deadlines, and progress on your personal goals. Sessions are available in person and online.
Group workshops on specific topics such as understanding a payslip, comparing rental contracts, or completing a tax return. Small groups ensure everyone can ask questions freely.
For processes that require attending a bank, a public office, or an employment service, your mentor can accompany you directly. Knowing someone is there makes a significant difference.
